Capuchin Monkey
Anyone visiting Manuel Antonio, recognizes the face of Carablanca or Capuchin Monkey. Since it is almost the face of Manuel Antonio in countless commercials and guidelines around the world. But how common is it to really see them? Quite a lot, at least in the surroundings of Manuel Antonio, especially here in the Hotel, the monkeys visit us for many years and without fail every day, even more than once a day. Due to the reforestation programs and the inclusion of cables & bridges for monkeys on the roads, our little friends can walk freely through the area of Manuel Antonio and its surroundings. The white-faced monkeys usually walk in noisy herds of up to thirty monkeys, feeding on fruit trees in the area and providing joy with their monadas. In the large and beautiful green areas of the hotel, there is the perfect playing field of these mischievous monkeys, wonders of nature that cross our beautiful Manuel Antonio.

Scarlet Macaw in Manuel Antonio
Since the year 2013, Hotel Gaia, together with the environmental ministry of Costa Rica (MINAET), reintroduced the Scarlet Red Macaw to the central Pacific of Costa Rica. They had practically disappeared from our area for about forty years, due to poaching and deforestation. Thanks to the efforts of Gaia and the reforestation programs of the area, the “Lapas” now dazzle the skies of Manuel Antonio. These magnificent birds can now be observed in several Manuel Antonio hotels, especially here at Hotel Byblos, where some Lapas have recently nested in front of one of our bungalows .
During these last two years we can now safely say that they can reproduce on their own, as we can verify by the nests that they have formed in the green areas of our hotel. Without a doubt, the Lapas have returned to Manuel Antonio and we are quite grateful that they have selected our hotel as part of their habitat and nesting area.
Do not miss this amazing show in the sky! Come visit Hotel Byblos and be a part of the wild life of our little piece of paradise that is Manuel Antonio.
