Since the year 2013, Hotel Gaia, together with the environmental ministry of Costa Rica (MINAET), reintroduced the Scarlet Red Macaw to the central Pacific of Costa Rica. They had practically disappeared from our area for about forty years, due to poaching and deforestation. Thanks to the efforts of Gaia and the reforestation programs of the area, the “Lapas” now dazzle the skies of Manuel Antonio. These magnificent birds can now be observed in several Manuel Antonio hotels, especially here at Hotel Byblos, where some Lapas have recently nested in front of one of our bungalows .
During these last two years we can now safely say that they can reproduce on their own, as we can verify by the nests that they have formed in the green areas of our hotel. Without a doubt, the Lapas have returned to Manuel Antonio and we are quite grateful that they have selected our hotel as part of their habitat and nesting area.
Do not miss this amazing show in the sky! Come visit Hotel Byblos and be a part of the wild life of our little piece of paradise that is Manuel Antonio.
